The Swedish authority launches a security app to help young people on social networks
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) has announced the launch of a mobile application aimed at helping young people protect their personal data on social networks.
The application, named FantomApp, is intended for children aged 10 to 15 and offers interactive tools to configure account security settings, test password strength, and blur photos. It also contains advice on managing fake profiles, hacking, harassment, or online scams. Originally developed in France by the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) with funding from the European Union, the application has been translated and adapted by IMY. Its launch comes in a context where 86% of 8-19 year olds use social networks daily and where 85% of parents worry about not being able to protect their children online. IMY also plans to launch educational material entitled "Your life online."
