The Swedish authority launches an investigation into the processing of children's personal data at a municipal swimming pool
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) has initiated an investigation concerning the processing of children's personal data at the Åbybadet swimming pool.
The investigation targets the Culture and Leisure Committee of the city of Mölndal, following information that children wishing to access the pool without being accompanied by an adult must provide their personal identification number at the reception, even for a single visit. The authority will examine in particular the scope of this data processing, the purposes pursued, and the legal basis invoked for this collection. This action is part of IMY's priority monitoring areas for 2026, which include children and young people.
