The Swedish authority guides AI projects in the health and housing sectors
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) has announced that it will support two artificial intelligence projects within its "innovation sandbox" to ensure their compliance with data protection.
The first project, led by the municipality of Lund, the city of Helsingborg, and the company Notana Care AB, aims to develop artificial intelligence agents for municipal health and social care staff. These tools are intended to automate certain administrative tasks, such as writing meeting minutes, assessing care needs, or planning interventions, to allow staff to focus on more qualified tasks.
The second project, carried out by the housing company Telge Bostäder AB, aims to use artificial intelligence to optimize the housing rental process. The proposed technical solution must compile various types of data to provide case managers with more comprehensive information and speed up decisions for applicants. The head of IMY's innovation unit highlighted the challenges related to replacing human oversight with AI and the importance of identifying and mitigating associated risks.
