The Swedish authority organizes a debate on the EDPB's new recommendations regarding anonymization
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) is organizing a roundtable to discuss the guidelines on anonymization of personal data developed by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).
These guidelines, in which IMY participated, aim to clarify the concept of anonymization and establish precise criteria to determine when personal data are considered securely anonymized, meaning they can no longer be linked to a natural person. This draft is currently subject to a public consultation until October 30, allowing organizations to submit their observations. At the end of this period, the EDPB will analyze the feedback to possibly modify or clarify the document.
The objective of the roundtable is to raise awareness among Swedish organizations about these new guidelines, to collect their comments to integrate into the EDPB's revision work, and to remind of the opportunity to contribute to the public consultation. Representatives from universities, government agencies such as the Agency for Digital Government (Digg) and the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), national archives, the police, as well as the Confederation of Swedish Enterprises participate in the event.
