The President of the Polish Data Protection Authority (UODO) has requested the support of the President of the Republic of Poland for legislative solutions aimed at strengthening the protection of Internet users, especially minors, against digital threats.

This initiative is part of the transposition into Polish law of the Digital Services Act (DSA). The President of the UODO highlighted emerging risks related to technologies such as artificial intelligence, notably the creation and dissemination of deepfake-type content, which undermine data protection and privacy. He emphasized the particular vulnerability of minors to cyberviolence, illustrated by a case where students generated a fake nude image of a classmate. In addition to preventive and educational actions, such as integrating these topics into school curricula at the UODO's request, the authority stressed the need to implement robust legal and technological mechanisms.

During the legislative process, the UODO advocated for a procedure allowing the immediate blocking of content most harmful to minors. The authority found that the initial list of criminal offenses justifying such a measure, provided in the draft law, was incomplete as it omitted certain offenses defined in Article 202 § 3–4c of the Penal Code. Thanks to its intervention, an amendment was adopted on 3 September 2026 by the Commission for Digitization, Innovation and Modern Technologies to include all offenses related to the processing of pornographic content involving minors. The appeal to the President of the Republic therefore aims to obtain his approval for these legislative solutions, presented as positively assessed by the data protection authority and deemed essential for the protection of children's fundamental rights.
