The Portuguese authority launches a priority channel to handle complaints related to children and young people

The Portuguese data protection authority, the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD), has launched a priority channel for handling complaints related to the personal data of children and young people.
Available since September 15, 2026, this channel allows urgent processing of reports and complaints concerning unauthorized access to minors' data, the non-consensual collection and dissemination of sensitive or violent images or sounds, as well as advertising targeted at them. It is accessible to children, young people, and any citizen who notices an unlawful sharing of such content. This initiative is part of Strategic Action No. 3 of the 2024-2026 multiannual activity plan and the authority's 2026 annual plan. The CNPD indicated that this topic will be pursued in its future strategic plans, notably for the 2027-2029 period, and in its National Data Protection Training Plan.
