The Portuguese authority participates in a European workshop on impact assessment of artificial intelligence systems
The National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) of Portugal participated in a European workshop on impact assessment methodologies for artificial intelligence systems.
The CNPD took part in the 24th meeting of the Central and Eastern European Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA), held in Croatia from 24 to 26 September 2026. The event, which brought together representatives from several European Union authorities, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), and the Council of Europe, included a practical workshop on data protection impact assessment and fundamental rights impact assessment for artificial intelligence systems. The work focused on the supervision of autonomous AI agents, the need for effective human oversight, and the methodological frameworks linking the GDPR to the Artificial Intelligence Regulation.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Zadar Declaration. This document establishes a common commitment to strengthen cooperation among supervisory authorities in facing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and data management within the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The declaration also emphasizes the importance for authorities to have independence, adequate resources, and the technical expertise necessary to carry out their tasks.
