The Polish data protection authority (UODO) has secured the adoption of an amendment aimed at strengthening the protection of minors within a bill transposing the Digital Services Act (DSA).

The bill, reviewed by the Committee on Digitization, Innovation and Modern Technologies of the Polish parliament, provided for an immediate blocking procedure for certain serious unlawful content. However, the President of the UODO pointed out a major gap: the omission of offenses related to the processing of child pornographic content, defined in Article 202, paragraphs 3 to 4c of the Penal Code. The authority insisted on the need for a separate procedure and immediate enforcement to remove such content in order to prevent serious consequences for the children concerned. Following this intervention, the parliamentary committee unanimously adopted the amendment on 3 September 2026, with government support. The law still needs to be signed by the President of the Republic to come into force.
