The Polish data protection authority (UODO) announces the holding of an online conference on the relationship between the freedom of scientific research and the protection of personal data.

This event, entitled "Research data, personal data. The freedom of scientific research and the protection of personal data," will take place on November 20, 2026. It is co-organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Łódź, the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia, the UODO, and the Social Team of Experts to the President of the UODO. A representative of the authority will speak on the "Challenges related to compliance with consent conditions in the context of processing personal data for scientific research purposes." Discussions will also address researchers' obligations, principles of research data management, and issues related to artificial intelligence. The conference will be broadcast on the UODO website without prior registration.
