La Quadrature du Net supports Autistici/Inventati against the US designation and analyzes the RIPOST law on surveillance
The Constitutional Council has validated almost the entire RIPOST law, which extends several surveillance measures in France.
Adopted last June, the law promoted by the Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez was examined by the Constitutional Council, which approved the majority of the text. Notable measures include the extension of the experimental use of algorithmic video surveillance (AVS), expanded use of automatic license plate readers (ALPR), as well as increased possibilities for identity checks. The law also covers the use of body cameras and drones.
The United States government has designated the Italian associative hosting collective Autistici/Inventati as a terrorist organization, leading to the cessation of its activities.
The Italian collective Autistici/Inventati, which provided hosting services focused on confidentiality and security for activists, was listed by the US government as a global terrorist organization. This decision was made under the pretext of logistical support to the "Antifa" movement. Consequently, the collective was also added to a list of organizations with which any commercial relationship is prohibited under penalty of sanctions. Autistici/Inventati's providers had until September 25 to terminate their services, which forced the collective to announce the cessation of its activities on September 7.
