The Korean authority launches a third call for applications to support pre-consultation for representatives requesting personal data transmission
The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) is organizing a third phase of applications, from August 11 to 31, for its pilot operation of prior consultation aimed at representatives exercising the right to personal data transmission.
This initiative aims to gradually replace the practice of data scraping, which presents security risks, with secure transmission methods without interrupting existing services. Companies, including small entities and those not qualified for the "MyData" program, are invited to participate via the "SurMesDonnées" portals or the "Citizen Petitions Portal." The first two pilot phases have already recorded about 700 requests. Entities submitting a request during this period will benefit from a temporary maintenance of their current methods while the PIPC facilitates the implementation of secure solutions, such as application programming interfaces (APIs). The PIPC will collaborate with public bodies to sustain these secure transmission systems, and the consultation mechanism will remain active at each body after the pilot phase.
