The Korean authority organizes a forum on innovation in the preventive protection system and response to artificial intelligence security
The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) and the Korean Council of Data Protection Officers (KCPO) are jointly organizing a policy forum to address the transition to a data protection system focused on prevention and response strategies to security threats related to artificial intelligence.
This forum, to be held on November 9, 2026, takes place in the context of a recent revision of the Personal Information Protection Act, marking a shift towards a preventive model. This evolution strengthens the accountability of business leaders and data protection officers, while emphasizing the importance of proactive security investments. The objective is to share government policy directions and discuss adaptation strategies for the public and private sectors. The PIPC will present its policies on strengthening leaders' accountability, data protection in the public sector, and incentive measures for security investments, including reductions in financial penalties.
Speakers from the private and public sectors will share their experiences adapting to new accountability requirements and investment incentives. Discussions will also focus on autonomous security solutions based on artificial intelligence to counter the sophistication of cyberattacks and on developments in the security market. The forum will conclude with an expert roundtable on the modalities for implementing this new preventive protection framework.
