The Korean authority emphasizes the importance of personal data protection through daily practices and prior verifications
The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) of South Korea has issued recommendations for individuals and organizations to strengthen the protection of personal data.
In response to the rise of hacks exploiting artificial intelligence, the authority detailed preventive measures. For individuals, it is advised to delete unused accounts, enable two-factor authentication, periodically check for potential data breaches via dedicated public services, and be wary of suspicious communications. For companies and organizations, the Commission stresses the need to conduct a comprehensive inventory of information assets, disable obsolete services, systems, and accounts, and secure application programming interfaces (APIs) by limiting access rights and revoking unused authentication credentials. Regular vulnerability monitoring and the implementation of incident response procedures are also recommended.
