Executive Vice-President Virkkunen participates in G20 ministerial meetings in the United States on innovation and artificial intelligence
The Executive Vice-President of the European Commission participated in the G20 ministerial meeting on innovation, focused on the role of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in economic growth.
The discussions addressed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies as drivers of growth, as well as supply chains, skills, and scientific investments. The European representative highlighted Europe's ambition to become a leader in AI, supported by an investment of 200 billion euros through the InvestAI programme, 19 AI Factories, and future AI Mega-factories. She emphasized the need for increased international cooperation and interoperability to avoid regulatory fragmentation. Bilateral meetings took place with representatives from the United States, Japan, Turkey, India, and Mexico.
