The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) recommends that users of the Twitch platform disable an option to share their personal data intended for training Amazon's artificial intelligence models.

Twitch, a subsidiary of Amazon, has informed that users' personal data, such as video streams, voice, name, images of their personal environment, and conversations, are used to train AI models. The AP considers this practice concerning, reminding that facial images are sensitive data and that users lose control over their information once it is integrated into these systems. The "Generative AI Training" setting is enabled by default, requiring users to manually disable it in the security and privacy settings to opt out. The AP's vice-president described this sharing as "very risky," adding that Twitch justified this default activation by stating that users would not otherwise give their consent.
