The Croatian authority's representative participates in the data governance dialogue between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean

The Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP) participated in a high-level dialogue on data governance policies between the European Union and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.

This dialogue, held in Madrid on 29 and 30 September 2026, is part of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance project. The objective was to strengthen digital cooperation and define future priorities in data governance between the two regions. The event brought together policymakers, data protection authorities, as well as representatives from the European Commission and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). A representative of AZOP spoke during a roundtable dedicated to mechanisms for secure international transfers of personal data. Discussions focused on Convention 108+, adequacy decisions, and standard contractual clauses, analyzing their respective benefits and requirements. Emphasis was placed on the economic impact of adequacy decisions based on Article 45 of the GDPR and on the need to strengthen cooperation to facilitate secure data flows.
