The National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) has released a new version of its experimental tool, Genmod, designed for the traceability of open-source artificial intelligence models.

Developed by the CNIL's AI service in collaboration with its Digital Innovation Laboratory (LINC), this demonstrator allows exploring the genealogy of AI models to trace their ancestors and descendants. The purpose of this traceability is to study the consequences of personal data retention by a model, by identifying derived models that may also have retained this information. This approach is part of the analysis of the conditions for exercising the rights provided by the GDPR.

The new version brings several improvements, including optimized search performance and better visibility on their progress. Data updating is now automated on a weekly basis from the public information of the HuggingFace platform. The ergonomics have been revised, with an interface now available in English, simplified navigation, and improved display of results, sorted by default according to their number of downloads.
