The National Commission on Informatics and Freedoms (CNIL) announces the holding of the second edition of its Informatics & Freedoms Meetings on September 29, 2026, an event aimed at legal and data protection professionals.

The first roundtable will focus on connected glasses, considered a potential paradigm shift. The discussions will concentrate on the new risks to privacy posed by this technology, notably due to the discreet nature of the data collection devices. The goal is to bring together regulators, industry players, and experts to contribute to the development of a legal framework adapted to these new tools, both at the national and European levels.

The second roundtable will examine the role of sanctions in the regulation of personal data, in the context of a record amount of fines imposed by the CNIL in 2025, totaling 487,000,000 euros for 83 sanctions. This session will confront the viewpoints of practitioners involved in enforcement action, such as the regulator, a lawyer, and a judge, and will include a comparative dimension with the practices of another European data protection authority and another national regulator.
