Call for proposals to strengthen cybersecurity of European SMEs with secure AI solutions

The European Commission has published a call for proposals under the Digital Europe programme, aiming to strengthen the cybersecurity capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The objective is to support the adoption by SMEs of innovative AI-based cybersecurity solutions to improve their risk management and resilience against cyberattacks. Projects must develop and deploy user-friendly products, tools, and services, including a toolbox as a service (SaaS) tailored to the needs of SMEs. This toolbox must automate cybersecurity processes, including risk assessment, threat detection, incident response, and notification, while protecting personal data. The solutions must also integrate prediction functions and connection to a Cybersecurity Hub for incident reporting and assistance. The budget allocated to this action is €20,000,000, with contributions per project estimated between €3,000,000 and €5,000,000 for approximately 5 grants. The proposal submission period runs from 1 September 2026 to 14 January 2027.
