The British data protection authority (ICO) has issued a statement regarding the outcome of a trial involving Meta in the United States and the commitments made by the company.

The ICO has taken note of the decision and the measures Meta has committed to implementing, and indicated that it will contact the company on this matter. The authority recalls that the protection of children's privacy is one of its regulatory priorities, emphasizing that its Children’s Code requires online services to design their products in the best interests of minors. In this context, the ICO is conducting ongoing work on the use of children's personal information by recommendation systems on social media and video sharing platforms, and is also running the "Connected to Privacy" campaign to assist families.
