The Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA) has presented its management plan for the year 2027, defining its priority areas in awareness-raising and enforcement.

Awareness actions will focus on profiling and data reuse in the banking sector, health data processed by dedicated applications, and booking data in the hospitality and catering sector. A recommendation on technical and organizational security measures will also be published. In terms of enforcement, the DPA will particularly target data brokers and processing in the video game sector. The awareness themes for 2027 will guide enforcement priorities for 2028. The authority also plans to improve its procedures by rapidly handling simple complaints through its First Line Service, so that the Litigation Chamber and the Inspection Service can focus on the most serious cases. Finally, the modernization of internal processes through artificial intelligence and the strengthening of external communication are also planned.
