The Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSB) co-organized, together with the Association of Austrian Cities and the Federal Chancellery, the seventh annual conference of public sector data protection officers, which took place on 21 and 22 September 2026 in St. Pölten.

The conference brought together around 160 participants around the main themes of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Freedom of Information Act. The first day was dedicated to AI, addressing its practical implementation with regard to data protection, the national transposition of the AI regulation, the anonymization of training data, and feedback from the public administration. A presentation also covered police video surveillance. The second day focused on the Freedom of Information Act, with exchanges on the initial experiences of supervisory authorities and municipalities. The event was also an opportunity to present recent case law from the DSB, the Federal Administrative Court, and the Court of Justice of the European Union, and concluded with a cross-cutting question session.
