The A² 2026 Conference Addresses Access to Public Information, Open Data, and Privacy Protection

The Estonian Data Protection Authority (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon - AKI) announces the holding of a conference on the interplay between access to public information, the use of open data, and the protection of personal data.

On October 21, 2026, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs, the conference entitled "A²: public information and open data – knowledge brings certainty" will take place. The event, co-financed by the European Union, will focus on the availability of public information, access restrictions, and the balance between the right to information and the right to privacy. Discussions will also address the application of the Estonian Public Information Act, the significance of the Tromsø Convention in the national context, as well as the current state and benefits of open data in Estonia, including challenges related to the inclusion of personal data in these datasets.
