Strengthening the Data Protection Skills of Lay Judges
The Polish Personal Data Protection Authority (UODO) has explored opportunities for cooperation in data protection training with representatives of lay judges.
The president of the UODO met with representatives of the Council of Lay Judges at the Ministry of Justice, the Association of Polish Lay Judges, and the Ministry of Justice. The objective is to strengthen the data protection skills of lay judges, due to the increasing frequency of data processing issues in cases handled by common law courts. This initiative is part of a broader project, supported by the Ministry of Justice, aimed at developing a coherent training system. The president of the UODO expressed willingness to contribute to these actions by sharing specialized expertise.
The participants also expressed interest in organizing joint training initiatives, intended both for lay judges and data protection officers employed in the courts. They agreed that this cooperation will help raise the data protection culture within the judicial system and strengthen the skills of public officials, serving better protection of citizens' rights.
