The Korean authority launches the 2026 competition for personal data protection and utilization technologies

The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) has announced the launch of the "2026 Personal Data Protection and Utilization Technologies Award" to reward companies that have developed effective solutions in this field.
This initiative, part of the "Transition Plan to a Personal Data Management System Focused on Prevention" dated May 22, aims to encourage the dissemination of advanced technologies and strengthen cooperation within the industry. Candidate companies can submit their applications from July 3 to 31. After a review and presentation phase, up to three winners will be selected. They will receive the "President of the Personal Information Protection Commission Award" during the "Personal Data Protection Day" ceremony in September. The event is co-organized by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the Korean Data Protection Officers Forum, and ZDNet Korea. According to the director of the PIPC Personal Data Policy Office, this award aims to enhance the competitiveness of national data protection technologies and stimulate investments in this sector.
