The Korean authority holds a field meeting on personal data protection in Naju
The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) held a field meeting with the staff of the Personal Data Breach Reporting Center to discuss operational difficulties and possible improvements.
On 2 July 2026, the PIPC Chairperson visited the premises of the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) as part of a "field problem-solving" initiative. This meeting aimed to inspect the frontline service facing a continuous increase in reports, with around 40,000 cases in 2024 and 50,000 in 2025, a rise linked to large-scale data breaches and the malicious use of artificial intelligence, such as deepfakes. Discussions focused on the challenges faced by the teams and practical improvements to enhance support and the quality of advisory services. The Chairperson stated that the feedback collected would help evolve the center to provide better service to citizens and address staff concerns. The center operates in accordance with Article 62 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
