The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) of South Korea has announced the organization of its fourth mock trial competition on personal data protection.

This event, which will take place on August 27 at Seoul National University, will focus on the theme "The protection and use of personal data in the era of artificial intelligence," concentrating on issues raised by agentic artificial intelligence. The competition is open to university students and law school students, divided into two distinct categories. Following a written qualification phase, eight finalist teams will be selected and will receive mentorship from technology companies and law firms. The winners will receive awards granted by the PIPC and the Korean Association for Personal Data Protection Law, with a total value of 15,000,000 South Korean won (approximately €10,000). The initiative aims to develop the legal skills of future professionals and raise public awareness of these issues.
