Joint Seminar in Białystok on Data Protection and Technological Innovation in Public Administration

The Polish Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) and the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) co-organized a seminar on June 23 in Białystok, focusing on the challenges related to the implementation of new technologies in the public sector.

The discussions, bringing together representatives of public administration and experts, emphasized the growing importance of data protection, considered a valuable resource in a context of technological development and geopolitical changes. A representative of the UODO stressed the need for a responsible approach, stating that new technologies are not standard products and must undergo prior risk analysis and tailored adaptation for each organization. The integration of data protection and privacy from the design phase was presented as an essential condition to reconcile innovation and the protection of citizens' rights. The debates also addressed the reconciliation of legal requirements with the digitization of services and the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, while maintaining a balance with privacy protection.
