The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) and the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA) held a meeting to address their institutional coordination regarding artificial intelligence and personal data protection.
Both agencies exchanged on their respective actions and considered collaboration for regulatory sandbox projects involving personal data. Discussions focused on harmonizing supervisory procedures and establishing coordination mechanisms. They also discussed defining a communication channel to share information from the European Artificial Intelligence Board and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). Cooperation with market surveillance authorities was examined, notably concerning the notification of serious incidents, the functions of the single contact point provided for by the Artificial Intelligence Regulation, and administrative cooperation for high-risk systems. Finally, joint actions on digital literacy were mentioned.
