France Travail is developing an algorithmic profiling tool aimed at identifying jobseekers to prioritize for controls.

The tool, called "Job Search Control Targeting," was presented to the France Travail ethics committee on December 10, 2025. Its purpose is to predict breaches of job search obligations by establishing "suspect" profiles based on the analysis of 60,000 previous controls and 26 variables, including declared activities, CV visibility, education level, and history of breaches. Currently in testing on individuals who have undergone a mutual termination agreement, France Travail plans to extend its use to automatically populate control lists. This profiling could affect more than 6 million people and aims to carry out 500,000 targeted controls in 2025, out of a total of 730,000.

This development is part of an effort to increase the volume of controls, with a target of 1.5 million in 2027, and to automate the control process. The algorithm's operation remains opaque, with its classification rules unknown. Requests for access to the source code of other France Travail artificial intelligence tools, such as MatchFt or ChatFt, reportedly went unanswered, including after referral to the Commission for Access to Administrative Documents (CADA).
