The Polish data protection authority (UODO) has detailed the new powers granted to it by the Act of 27 March 2026 on data management, which came into force on 23 July 2026 to complement the Data Governance Act (DGA).

Since that date, the UODO is the competent authority for data intermediation services, the registration of data altruism organizations, and violations related to transfers of non-personal data to third countries, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2022/868. Providers of data intermediation services must notify their activity to the UODO in order to operate throughout the European Union. Upon request, the UODO may confirm their compliance, allowing them to use the label "recognized data intermediation service provider in the Union".

Similarly, data altruism organizations may voluntarily request their registration with the UODO. If an organization meets the conditions of Article 18 of the DGA, the authority has a period of 12 weeks to register it in the public national register. This registration, valid in all Member States, authorizes the entity to use the label "recognized data altruism organization in the Union" as well as a common logo. Data altruism is defined as the voluntary sharing of data for reasons of general interest.
