The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) recommends that providers and users of artificial intelligence systems adhere to a code of good practices published by the European Commission, detailing the future transparency obligations.

From August 2, 2026, new transparency requirements provided by the AI Regulation will apply to reduce risks of misinformation, fraud, and manipulation. These obligations, detailed in Article 50 of the AI Regulation, require clearly informing individuals when they interact with an AI, are exposed to emotion recognition or biometric categorization systems, or view content generated or modified by AI, such as deepfakes. To facilitate compliance, the European Commission published a voluntary code of practice on June 10. The AP advises concerned organizations to study this code and sign it, in whole or in part, before July 22, 2026, to be listed among the first signatories. The Directorate of Algorithm Coordination (DCA) of the AP, which will oversee this regulation, will publish further clarifications.
