The British authority launched a public consultation regarding its new governance

The British data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), has launched a public consultation on its draft new governance.

This initiative follows the British Data Use and Access Act of June 2025, which changes the governance of the ICO by replacing the single commissioner model with a commission structure featuring a non-executive chair, a board of directors, and a separate chief executive officer. The draft strategy aims to ensure the transition from the current "ICO25" plan to this new model. The consultation, open from July 10 to August 23, 2026, seeks to gather feedback from all stakeholders on the purpose, strategic outcomes, and regulatory and transformation priorities of the project. Responses are collected via the Citizen Space platform and may be published after removal of personal data.
