The Polish data protection authority (UODO) hosted in Warsaw the 77th meeting of the International Data Protection Working Group on Technologies, known as the Berlin Group, to discuss challenges related to new technologies.

On June 24 and 25, 2026, experts from supervisory authorities, non-governmental organizations, and a representative of the European Data Protection Supervisor examined issues related to technological evolution. Discussions focused on the influence of artificial intelligence on the judicial system, the role of data protection officers, as well as cloud computing services, biometrics, the Internet of Things, and digital identity. The president of the UODO presented the priorities of his authority, notably artificial intelligence and combating threats related to deepfakes. The meeting resulted in the adoption of a document on ISAC/6G and defined future work directions, which will include deepfakes, agentic AI, age verification, smart glasses, and employee monitoring by AI. Reflections were also initiated on future documents concerning synthetic data and data processing after death.
